Learning Supplies for a Wide Variety of Learners

My Students

I am a third year teaching my first self-contained (multi-categorical with Autism) classroom. I teach 6 different subjects to 7 students with all different levels of learning needs. I am on a very limited budget and was hoping that we can get a few items that will engage and teach them.

Again, I have 7 students with Autism, Intellectual disabilities, verbal, non-verbal, etc.

I teach all core subjects plus Living Skills and Pre-vocational skills. However, we can use a lot more materials that are hands on and engaging. I tried to pick a few we need the most immediately.

My Project

My students need a wide variety of items to include manipulatives. Some need manipulatives such as theraputty. Others need engaging games for reading and math. Some of my students will use the materials for therapeutic/hands-on skills purposes. Others will use certain materials for reinforcing concepts such as main idea or subtraction. They will learn concepts such as in and out, letters, main idea, counting, and other skills.

These items will be used on a consistent basis and will help students reach their personal and academic goals.

It will help our students work on items that engage and interest them as opposed to using more paper-oriented sorts and such which are not as applicable in their lives.
