Let's Get Moving!

The children at the school I teach at have very little playground equipment. My students need a gaga ball pit to give them a place to play during recess and reward time.

My Students

"Play is the work of the child.” – Maria Montessori. The students at the school where I teach work hard on their studies throughout the day, but also need a place to work outside and play. Reading, writing and math are important, but so is giving children a chance to play.

The students that attend my school are full of life.

They thrive on activities that keep them moving. The children go from Preschool up to Fourth Grade in my school. The majority of the students come from homes that fall below the poverty line. They love any opportunity to go outside and play together. This gives these students an opportunity to get much needed exercise and a chance to burn off some steam after working on their studies throughout the day. A number of the kids at my school have a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD. They need a chance to just run and play to settle them down for the afternoon to finish out the agenda for the rest of the day.

My Project

The students at my school will use the gaga ball pit during recess as well as reward time. They will use this to get physical activity. This game will also teach students about good sportsmanship and teamwork. This pit will be placed on the playground for the entire school to enjoy. There is very little playground equipment for the students to use now, and this would be a nice addition that the students would enjoy.

By donating to this project, the students at my school will be given a place to play outside during their free time.

They will be able to learn a new game, get active, and show good sportsmanship.
