My students need 2 laptops, chart paper, and an extra charger to enter the world of self-directed learning with research and presentations of their projects.
A typical day in our classroom demonstrates that "learning is loud." My classes are project and group oriented, and experimentation and taking chances are encouraged. At the end of the year, I want my students to be technologically advanced and self-directed learners. The challenge is having available enough technology for all.
My class ranges from hyperactive boys to high achieving females.
Teaching 3 levels and grades of math can be challenging. I want to have technology in each student's hand and curriculum to drive the pace that they can learn. We have, as a school, incorporated some software to help with differentiation and endorsement of working at your level of competence.
My Project
My classroom will obtain a 1-to-1 group-to-computer ratio with this project. My students need 2 laptops, chart paper, and an extra charger. My students have a variety of programs that can enhance their learning. With these new resources, my students can now look at personalized learning and either continue at a faster pace or spend the extra time on a concept they are struggling with. These two laptops will add variety to my class while the chart paper will add engineering drawing to projects. An extra charger will keep extra devices always ready to go and help our current devices become mobile. My students are the future and now their tools will prepare them.
With this project, I will have reached my goal!
We will have a full complement of laptops and Chromebooks that are able to offer different presentation ideas. Some need storage and some do not, but I will have available one laptop per group. This technology will let the students express themselves with variety.
