My students need a diverse reading library for SSR everyday. I require my students to read fiction, fantasy, and non-fiction to help build their fluency and comprehension.

My Students
My students are required to read 20 minutes everyday. I want my students to develop a love for reading and knowledge. Through this daily exercise students are increasing their fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. These skills will help them to be more successful on state tests and the ACT.
My students come for a low socioeconomic community.
My kids are very bright, but their resources and opportunities are somewhat limited. I can't afford to take them places to build background knowledge, but I can use books to show them different things in our world. My students work very hard to reach their tremendous potential and I am very proud of them.
My Project
We will use these materials daily. I teach around 120 students each year and having these books will allow them to pick stories that interest them so that they will be more committed to reading it. All of my students struggle in reading and language. These books will help increase their imaginations, foster their grammar knowledge, and allow them the opportunity to use these stories to help create their own stories.
This project will help build confidence in my students and their abilities.
Because most of them struggle in reading, it is very difficult to get them to read. If I have stories to offer them that interest them they will give reading a chance.
