My Students

A typical day in music class is never typical. These students were able to learn how to play the recorder last year and have been looking forward to another year of music. They are eager to learn and cannot wait to jump into a new year of new musical experiences.

My students come from low income households.

Despite these challenges in their day to day life they are driven and excited to succeed. I would like to give these options and materials that their financial positions prevent. The school community is very supportive of music and the arts.

My Project

I am requesting 40 buckets and 4 sets of drum sticks so each student can use their own bucket drum. Bucket drumming will enable to students to learn rhythm in an interesting and exciting way. They can experience playing as an ensemble. They will learn note values, tempo, dynamics, and will be exposed to world music with songs from around the world. They are excited to be able to experience drumming in a new way.

I am a traveling music teacher and must adapt to the classroom teacher's environment.

The buckets are stackable and easy to transport, giving the students exposure to drumming that would otherwise not be possible in this type of environment.
