My Students

My students are anxious for new books. They follow me down the hallway asking if new books are available. When a new box is delivered to the library they ask if it contains new stories for them to dive into. I am excited to introduce them to new stories that brighten their imagination!

Our school consist of 350 students in grades kindergarten through 8th grade.

Students are engaged in their community and visit the small country store next door. It is common to see families playing at the school playground. I was fortunate to be able to open the library for families 7 times this summer allowing students and families to come in and read this summer. Our school does have a low income factor and is considered a title one school. Funds are limited and additional books would be an excellent resource for them.

My Project

These books will be labeled and cataloged into the library system. Students are scheduled to come into the library every other day. These books would be introduced to the students throughout book talks. They would be placed on the "new book table". Accessible for students to check out for a couple of months before they would be shelved into the regular areas of circulation. I want each student to see them and know that they are available for check out.

This donation would meet several needs.

Each student is looking for new books to read on different levels and interests. This donation would meet that need. New books encourage readers and provide that spark that we need to encourage students to continue to read and enjoy that love of reading.
