My Students

Whether a student is an intrinsically motivated high achiever or a student who needs frequent nurturing, guidance, reassurance and intervention, my goal is to help them all make the most of the instruction time that we share together.

Our high school caters to students who come from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Although every effort is made to group students of similar aptitude in a course, my classroom typically comprises students with different interests, skill levels, learning styles and emotional maturity.

My Project

In the new school year, I intend to take the first step needed to flip my classroom by personalizing and converting instruction into digital format. Students will be accessing lessons created by me using iTunes U and i Movie on an iPad. They will be encouraged to develop self-study skills during time allotted in class, at home or at a computer lab. ITunes U, designed for iPads, will be key to creating engaging lessons that incorporate variety of educational apps, videos, and instructional content. This will enhance my students' learning experiences and pique their interest much more than typical textbook based learning as it will allow me to plan, personalize and customize lessons to best suit students' needs. IMovie will be used to create small instructional videos that students can watch in their own time as well. This will allow me to use instruction time for teaching the application of a concept rather than just wasting valuable time explaining the concepts. My students need an iPad and iPad case for classroom use.

I believe the flipped classroom that will be created by your donations will improve students' lives by teaching them to be responsible and self-motivated learners and problem solvers.

We have a generation of digital learners who prefer to learn through self-paced explorations, and I am very hopeful that this project will be well-received and will better prepare them for future educational and professional settings.
