Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

As a Science Specialist, I serve Kindergarten through Second Grade students in Science in a full service public school. In the past few years we have had significant focus on improving Science instruction. Our pilot status has allowed to house two fully functional Science Labs.

Students need to see Science integrated with its real world application. Students need to see how their work is connected to the real world as opposed to just the word "Scientist." Students also need time to reflect on prior learning to help develop their own schema for Science.

With an LCD projector, we could take real resources from the web and use it to help build the link between the work we do and how it connects to real world Science. Students will also begin to build long-term memory of Scientific concepts that will help better prepare them for the future.
