My project needs a model of a human body that displays the various parts.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Marshall's classroom raised $847
This project is fully funded
I teach physical and health education to grades kindergarten through eighth grade. My school is considered a low income area in an urban setting. I teach over six hundred students.
This is my first year teaching at this school. I have observed that most of the children are not use to getting proper exercise and valuing their bodies. When I attempted to give them a twenty minute workout, they found it to be strange. One of the problems is that some of the children don't comprehend fully how important their health really is.
I thought by teaching the human body systems in detail would open the children's eyes to appreciating their bodies. In order for them to see the light, I find that hands-on illustrations makes them more engaged and interested in lessons. To have a model of an actual human body will be of a great assistance in teaching the lessons.
By funding this grant, you will change students' perspective about their bodies. They will understand better how the body works and become more interested in taking care of their health. In addition, they will learn how to eat and exercise properly to prevent diseases that are controllable from occurring. This will save tax dollars going to hospitals, lower insurance rates, and increase life span. Finally, one of the students may become inspired to enter the medicine field.
