Mrs. Edwards from Detroit MI is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need spools of filament to keep our Makerbot 3D Printer from becoming an expensive desk decoration.

Remember that one gift you got as a kid...the one that you were so excited to play until you realized that the box read "batteries not included?" Well, our Makerbot 3D Printer comes with filament, but we will quickly need more to keep "playing."
My students are bright and curious children who are excited about science.
They know their parent can't always provide more than basic necessities, but they don't realize the fun we have in science isn't really in the budget either. DonorsChoose and other funding sources have allowed me to bring opportunities to them that the regular school budget could not provide. They have many animals in the classroom, do investigations, go on field trips, and have outreach programs come into the classroom from science museums and nature centers.
Our most recent project that was funded was for a Makerbot 2 3D Printer. While we haven't officially started using it, yet, I know each little scientist will want a chance to design and "print" their work. The printer comes with a starter supply of filament, but it will soon run out as my students learn and create. The six spools of colored filament for the 3D printer will allow many more of my students to design and create using technology that many schools have been unable to bring into the classroom, but we are amazingly fortunate to have had funded.
Please help us to use the Makerbot 2 3D Printer to its fullest potential in our classroom.
We will need more filament to "print" what my students design. Without funding for additional filament I fear it may end up as the most technologically advanced paperweight ever.
