Capturing Vermont Digitally Through the Eyes of the Student
My students need two digital cameras and a printer to show either electronically(Photostory3) or physically(Display board) what Vermont looks like to them.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Hathorn's classroom raised $913
This project is fully funded
I currently teach social studies in a Public 9-12 high school. I have created what I feel is an empowering project for my students. They have the opportunity to teach the class about what Vermont means to them. One of the most important pieces of this project is a photo essay which each student must present to the class. This posed problems for me last year. Only about half of my students had access to digital cameras. Those students were able to create beautiful digital projects using editing software we have at our school. The problem came from the students who did not have access to a camera. These students were reliant on borrowing one from a friend or using an old floppy disk camera I have at school. Needless to say there was a dramatic difference between the students who had their own and those who did not. Some students printed pictures onto plain white paper because that is all they had access to.
What I would like is to have two cameras of high quality that I can sign out to the students and give them the same opportunity that so many of us take for granted. The printer would give all students a chance to produce high quality display boards. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I can't wait to see what my students photo essays will be worth to them.
