Learning violin can be tough. Without your own book, it's even tougher. The students in my school have been sharing one violin method book and making copies so that everyone can read along.
My students may be low-income, but they bring the richest curiosity and dedication to learning music.
My school is a Title 1 elementary school in NYC and my students come from a variety of cultural backgrounds. They see me, the music teacher, once a week, and can't get enough.
My Project
I am requesting method books for my students learning the violin. With more books, they can flip back to a page that shows them fingerings or note names. They can also take the book home to practice all they've learned. And if they see a more challenging piece that looks cool, they can try it on their own, share it with the class, maybe even teach another student.
We've been sharing this one book way too long.
Having more than one is not a luxury, it's a necessity. Please help me give my students the materials they need to become great musicians.
