This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in an urban school where 85% of the students are on free/reduced lunch program.

My curriculum ranges from science, social studies, and reading and I want to provide rich and engaging lessons for my students in order for them to compete in today's society.

My Project

Our students need to understand our history in order to appreciate how far we've come in Civil Rights Movement. To prepare our students to think critically about social justice, they need to read historical fiction books such as Lions of Little Rock to comprehend the true meaning behind friendship, social justice and equality.

Through your generous donation, we can share our ideas of a world that should be color blind, that should see people for who they are inside, not outside.

Rich and engaging books such as Lions of Little Rock will help students understand the importance of friendship and social justice and look beyond the skin color.
