Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Please help with the start up of our AP Biology program. I teach science at a small rural school in Texas, and we are trying to increase the academic offerings at our high school. This year we would really like to start and AP program, and Biology was chosen to be our first AP class.
We really need supplies to get this program going and with school starting in a few days we could really use your help.
I have read on the College Board site that there are twelve recommended labs that are to be part of an AP Biology course. In browsing through a few science catalogs I realized that all twelve of these labs can be purchased as part of a complete set. These are the twelve labs that would be able to be completed with you help: Diffusion and Osmosis, Enzyme Catalysis, Mitosis and Meiosis, Plant Pigment and Photosynthesis, Cell Respiration, Bacterial Transformation, Restriction Enzyme Cleavage of DNA and Electrophoresis, Genetics of Organisms, Population Genetics and Evolution, Transpiration, Physiology of the Circulatory System, Animal Behavior, Dissolved Oxygen and Aquatic Primary Productivity. I have also included some additional materials that will help with genetics and food webs.
With your help we really could be on our way to offering a wonderful opportunity to the students of our school. AP Biology was a wonderful experience for me as a child, and I would like your help in passing on this knowledge to my students.
