My students need the full Bluford Series and 59 other books, such as graphic novels, humor and biographies, to have a wide variety of interesting books for our classroom library.

My Students
"Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him."
- Maya Angelou
I teach at a small rural high school serving an interesting and diverse student body.
"Everybody knows everybody," one of my students explains. But while our community is close-knit, it cannot provide as many opportunities for our students as a large school would.
My Project
Each day, my students begin the period by reading a book that they have chosen from our classroom library. I have worked hard to put together a collection of interesting books. However, it is still a small collection and there are so many more wonderful books I'd like to include! I want to offer my students as many opportunities to find a book that is "just right" for them as I possibly can. In order to make that happen, I am requesting a wide variety of books - novels and nonfiction at varying reading levels - for our classroom library.
As with any other skill, the more you read, the better you get at reading.
Students who read are more likely to do well in school and in life. Please help my students connect with books they will love!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
