My students need a life-size human skeleton to learn human anatomy.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. K.'s classroom raised $515
This project is fully funded
Wouldn't it be great for students to actually have a model of a human skeleton as they are learning anatomy? I teach 3 human anatomy & physiology classes of 11th & 12th grade students. Our school district is considered urban, with 52% of the students on free or reduced lunch. Many of our families are single-parents struggling to provide for their children.
Up until this year, these classes were taught in conjunction with career and technical education, which received money for each student enrolled. Having been pulled from CTE, I do not have access to a human skeleton for hands-on learning. Due to tax short-falls in our area, there is no money available in our department budget to purchase a skeleton. These students are eager to learn anatomy, as most will continue into the medical field after graduation. Looking at pictures in a book cannot do justice to the human skeleton. Since most of my students come from economically struggling households, it's great to see them excited about this class.
I am asking for one life-size human skeleton that will be used in the class to teach my students. This skeleton has removable bones, which the students will be able to handle as they are learning there names, location, and identifying marks. The focus will be to identify individual bones as they are scattered around the classroom. This is a great way for students to show me what they have learned.
You will make it possible for my students - current and future - to fully appreciate the wonder of the human skeletal system. Who knows, you may be providing your future doctor with his/her first glimpse into the wonder of the human body.
More than half of students from low‑income households
