A tisket, a tasket, drop a document camera in our basket! As a teacher whose Kindergarten students use technology daily, I have no doubt, if we have a class document camera, we could utilize it in an effective to promote the kindergarten skills at hand.
Teaching is something that runs deep in my family.
My mom and godmother both taught at the same school I am now. My sister teaches at a nearby school as well. We all have a great love of teaching and our community. At this time I am a Kindergarten teacher at a Pre K-5th grade school. My hometown is known to be a close area that works together for our students. Parental support is a definite priority in our area. Our local school has around 550 students. I have a fun loving class who embraces learning!
My Project
When I was preparing this proposal, the nursery rhyme "A tisket, a tasket" kept playing through my mind. In this case, my own version would be "a tisket, a tasket, drop a document camera in my basket." Obviously as a teacher, I know the importance of focusing on different student levels. I have no doubt, that the use of a document camera would enhance engaging reading, math, science and social studies lessons. Through this device, I could demonstrate lessons that would that would reach all students. A great example would be science experiments. At times, we can participate in only 1 class experiment. The document camera could be used to "project" the powerful experiment on the screen where all students would have a clear and helpful view of the experiment. We could then engage in a powerful question & answer session to enhance the ongoing lesson displayed I would also use this for handwriting so they can watch me write the letters on the paper just like on their paper.
For obvious reasons, additional technology money is not readily available for classroom document cameras.
Please know that my students and I would be appreciative of your help in having our own classroom document camera. It would be used for productive lessons to bring the students to a higher level of academic achievement. Could you please help drop a document camera in our Kindergarten basket?
