I have the best job in the world! We call our students scholars. Many are indeed wise beyond their years. They encounter adversity that most adults would find challenging on a daily basis. In spite of this they persevere with their academics. My scholars are mostly Latino and some African American kids. Our school is located in inner city Los Angeles. We work hard together from 7 in the morning until 4 or 5pm. These scholars are growing up into dignified people who will be compassionate and informed citizens. If you are reading this I have a feeling you too believe they deserve the opportunities their wealthier counterparts receive. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping materially improve the quality of their precious lives. Your gift will be paid back with interest when these kids return from their four-year college and help other kids find hope and opportunity.
