I teach for one of the largest school districts in the state of Oklahoma and the elementary I am at is the largest elementary school in the state. I am responsible for all 3rd and 4th graders which totals approximately 675 students ages 8 through 10 years old. Although our district is often referred to as a rich school by many people but that could not be further from the truth. This past year we did not qualify for state money based on free or reduced lunches for the first time in years. We are growing rapidly and class sizes are at an all-time high. The socioeconomic status of families attending the school site ranges from lower class to upper middle class. Ethnicity is also across the board. We not only teach these kids but get to learn from them as well. Lastly, our site has more special needs students than any other site within our district and we provide many accommodations to assist in their education. We are an amazing school with many diversities.
