In this time where public education is increasingly becoming about test scores and student achievement, it is especially important to realize that every school, not just privately funded schools, should have the resources to run a quality music program where children can thrive and go beyond what a standardize score indicates. How can one measure in points the value of a student English Language Learner who is literate in music and can play an instrument on stage with his/her classmates? My program strives to bringing music literacy, an untested form of literacy, to the forefront of education as a method of helping non-music areas of learning. Unfortunately, my school lacks the budget to provide the resources necessary to make this goal a reality so I am hoping Donor's Choose and YOU can help!!!
