In the past, we have made ends meet with one set of books, or we've borrowed them from other schools. However, these books are unavailable through these means. I think these books will help engage my students by linking this reading to multiple Gothic works and popular culture. Additionally, mythology is extremely engaging for students in our school and I am expanding the regions covered beyond traditional Greek/Roman mythology. For many of my students, these may be the first novels they read from start to finish. Based on previous experience, these novels have different appeals to different students, but there is no doubt that they are both highly interesting and engaging.
