Budget cuts should not affect the way we teach, but unfortunately they often do. This year we are not being supplied with paper and and teachers are having to purchase their own, even for state mandated tests. We have changed the way we teach for the better. We no longer make students memorize maps and dates. Students investigate to answer important challenges, like whether or not the United Nations has lived up to its stated purpose. For this I need paper. Paper to copy documents for them to examine. Paper graphic organizers to gather their thoughts and evidence. Paper for assessments is even needed due to the mandated standardized tests.
