The materials that I have requested will be utilized to get the children's bodies and minds moving. We have a small playground so this equipment will allow us to set up and implement intentional teaching for focused group rotations during our PE time and engaging active play during recess. The equipment on this list was chosen specifically because the items can be used in a variety of ways and can be easily stored. Playing outdoors helps children learn communication skills (making and following rules). We will create obstacle courses with the Gross Motor set to not only develop gross motor skills, but also a kinesthetic understanding of positional prepositions such as over, under and through. Outdoor play helps with number relationships (counting as as we hop, jump and tiptoe with the Kidzladder). All the while we are developing social skills (learning to cooperate and play together as a group or cheering and encouraging a friend). We will learn body awareness to help keep ourselves safe as we use somersault and tumble on the exercise mat. We will show kindness as we encourage others and we will learn responsibility when we clean up and store the equipment.
