What are your favorite memories from elementary school? Most likely, they involve field trips that made you feel inspired about the world around you. I am, as a fourth grade teacher, attempting to give that gift to my students. I want to inspire them to love history by sparking an interest in the past! To help create this, I take my fourth graders on three overnight field trips a year (yes...I'm exhausted...but it's so worth it)! My favorite trip involves a three day camping adventure along the Bear River, in Placer County, California. I call it the Gold Country Tour because we visit many of the places that were popular during the gold rush of 1849. To help make this trip a success, we need tents for the classroom. The 8-10 person tents I am requesting will allow my students (and two chaperones) to get some rest in their sleeping bags at the end of long days spent trekking to places like Sutter's Mill and t
