Four and five year old's learn with their hands and curiosity motivates their learning. Every day my students come to school excited to investigate the world around them. I encourage my students to manipulate and explore what they see through play. The alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors are all incorporated in our play. In order for my students to be ready for kindergarten, I need to inspire them with hands-on tools. Teaching fine motor skills is all about practice. My goal for my students is to have the opportunity for repetitive fine motor practice. Young children do not get the time they need to perfect this skill so I want to improve this with tools and games to make it exciting for these little learners! Our sensory table could include pots, pans, and spatulas for us to become chefs who are responsible for mixing and measuring to make alphabet soup! Our playdough center could include patterned rolling pins and alphabet stamps for us to spell our names. We could become construction workers moving and building the tallest number tower. By donating to this project, you will be providing tiny hands with the skills they need for reading and writing in kindergarten and beyond.
