I work in a STEAM magnet school with tons of potential, just waiting for someone to cultivate it! This past year, our 5th grade team came all new to the school, and took off with exciting ideas to turn this low-performing school into a Durham Public Schools destination. Well, this past school year our staff moved us out of "failing"! I'm so proud to be part of this hardworking team. We want to keep this going by showing our students the world. Most students come from homes of poverty, few life experiences, and too many home-care responsibilities for their age. They come to school with little home support and motivation to learn academics that seem inapplicable. Please help us take this inner-city school to the stars with supplies and experiences that will broaden their minds, and help them believe that success is possible and learning is fun.
