The students in my classroom come from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. Our school is an inclusive setting that teaches students with disabilities in the same classrooms with students who are typically developing. The students love learning together and need the opportunity to share skills. The students are a diverse learning community that works together. Inclusive education means that children who reflect the demographics of the surrounding region—including children who develop typically, children with special needs and children who are gifted—learn side by side. My school's model allows for the individual needs of each child to be addressed in a manner that enhances each child’s strengths while also addressing learning needs.
