I have curious and motivated ninth graders. I teach Semantics and Logic Honors and Advanced Reading. My students want to learn and want to discover on their own. These 14 and15 year-old students are working on SAT passages in their first year of high school. My students will be entering AP classes in their sophomore year and continue through their senior year. These are students who are already thinking about college and beyond. In a school with 60% of it's students on free or reduced lunch, a large number of my students fall into that category. Many of them are depending on scholarships for college and the reason why they are so focused on achieving high grades from the beginning of their high school career.
