My students are a group of diverse children with different learning modalities. We are in a public school in Staten Island, New York. I have been teaching 14 years in the public school system. My students seek many interventions, while many are English language learners. Many of the students are visual, tactile, and kinesthetic learners. Many students are from low income, military, and temporary housing families. Our students rely on teachers to give them a safe learning environment. We are their school families.
The instructor will teach our children how to develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives. Classes incorporate key childhood development elements such as leadership, respect, teamwork, confidence, self-esteem, memory, creativity, coordination, balance, cultural awareness.
Zumba Kids, Jr.
classes are packed with kid-friendly routines.
The instructor will break down steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure. The teacher will also use appropriate dance music to make the students learn about cultural aspects of the music. The instructor scaffolds the dances and differentiates steps as needed for students with different learning/physical needs. Zumba Kids is an amazing exercise program and the students are going to love it throughout the year!!
