This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Science should be fun!
Enter into a day of a most challenging Biology course where students crave and desire to understand the inner-workings of life.
While this is easily seen on a macro scale, its the micro concepts that are usually hard to comprehend. I lecture and use certain manipulatives for the students to understand the material; however, I would like to move them to becoming investigative 21st-Century, technological based learners.
The student population in my classroom is 98% African-American and their socio-economic factors are below average. Most have not seen or experienced much outside of their neighborhoods. Its a task of mine to expose them to the unseen and connect their world with the scientific world. This can be done using certain technology that can inspire and engage students.
My Project
zSpace combines INNOVATIVE INSTRUCTION and NEW TECHNOLOGY to engage students in HANDS-ON and MINDS-ON ACTIVITIES. Students will be able to picture and manipulate life processes.
Imagine being able to take a heart out of the computer screen and feel the force of each beat.
Even more, imagine having the ability to design experiments to see how the atria and ventricles function. zSpace allows this to happen while simultaneously allowing students to collaborate with each other.
Take a second and compare the aforementioned with creating a foldable on the parts of heart. Which is more fun? Which is more engaging? Which will peak curiosity?
