Zooming Through Physics

My students need 3 motion detectors that hook up to computers to collect data during labs.

My Students

My students have grown up using technology, but they need experience with scientific instruments!

My inner-city students tend to be low-level academically, often still learning English.

They are, however, inquisitive and motivated to better themselves, and want to be on par with their peers around the city. We are a small school with strong community, but not an abundance of resources.

My Project

I have requested motion sensors that can collect data about moving objects and display it on the computer, something that my school has nothing close to and that should be standard in any Physics class. We will be able to explore a number of Physics labs, from fairly standard velocity and acceleration activities, to determining the terminal velocity of various objects and designing the best parachutes. The students will also learn to gather and manipulate data electronically.

If our students gain these technical skills, they will be much better equipped for college and career opportunities that they may otherwise avoid.

Don't let my students miss out on these vital skills!
