My kindergarteners as so excited to be in their first year of elementary school! They come every day ready to listen and learn, and tackle all the challenges we throw their way. They love learning early math and reading skills, listening to stories and science lessons, and engaging in group play. They also enjoy beginning spelling challenges and various art projects we do to develop their creativity.
My children are enthusiastic learners, so excited to be in school, and love working hard to improve their skills!
Kindergarten is also a time to develop both gross and fine motor skills that are so vital as kids grow. One activity we do to encourage both fine motor skills and listening skills is "directed drawings". My children love following along on their own papers as a teacher shows the steps for creating detailed pictures. They each create masterpieces of their own! I love seeing how proud my kids are upon completing each directed draw, and also seeing how each student always finds a way to put his/her own 'flair' into it!
My Project
My kids love their directed drawings! They love to follow me as I draw myself, step by step. They concentrate so hard, and work so diligently! They develop their fine motor and listening skills as they do! In our large class, it can sometimes be hard for all the students to get a good view. With a new document camera, I can project the drawing clearly up on the wall in the front of the room, for all students to see easily.
A new document camera will enable all my students in my large class to see what I'm doing, as I'm doing it!
We'll also use the document camera when working on other activities, such as math and reading activities! They'll be able to see my fingers, as I point to each object we count. They will be able to watch me write numbers in order, or patterns, or solve early math problems. They can follow my hand as we read words, simple sentences, or as I point out the different sound patterns in a word. Being able to see more clearly and follow along from their seats will make understanding and learning so much easier for my students.
