Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a diverse group. I have primarily bilingual students, as well as foster children, special-education students, and a racially diverse population. Some of my students only have access to technology while at school, and many live below the poverty level. However, when we're together in the classroom, we are family. We take risks, make mistakes, and support each other socially and emotionally as we grow as first graders.
My challenge is to cultivate their natural curiosity in their digital environment so they will walk on Mars, cure cancer, and succeed in something we never imagined to be possible.
They are eager learners, natural builders, driven by their curiosity and creativity, and born in the digital age. It is my goal to guide my students to discover content through exploration and innovation, teaching them to ask questions and use technology to expand their learning. They are the leaders of tomorrow, the next great innovators, and the explorers of the future.
My Project
We are heading to the zoo! We've learned how animals adapt to their environment. We've studied camouflage, how to escape predators, how to move around, how to survive the climate, and how to get food and energy.
Now it's time to see all the things we have been studying in action!
Many of us have never seen exotic animals in person. We've read about them and seen them online or in movies. This experience to see giraffes, elephants, and tigers in person is a great opportunity to broaden their horizons and expand their worlds. Can you help make it a reality?
