My students need a "Zoo on Wheels" assembly to see live animals and learn about animals!

As a reading specialist, I work with struggling readers in first and second grade. Reading does not come easily to many of my students. These students will become good readers, but they need a little help.
We have both academic challenges and significant socioeconomic challenges.
At my school 100% of our students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunch, meaning it is categorized as "highest poverty." All students deserve the same educational opportunities, and my students are at a disadvantage.
I try to give my students quality instruction, quality materials, and a quality learning environment.
The Elmwood Park Zoo will come to our school, and present a "Zoo on Wheels" program for our students in gr. 1, 2, and 3.
All of our first, second and third graders will get to interact with some live animals, and they will also get to touch "bio facts" (animals skins, etc.).
The students will learn about animals in a very hands-on and exciting way.
Our students do not get to attend zoos often as this a great expense, and these our low income students. This is a great experience to "bring the zoo to them," and make learning literally come to life!
