My Students

The third graders are bright and curious, wanting to gain new knowledge. The Zoo Explorers program will give the students the new knowledge they seek coupled with exposing students to the Next Generation Science Standards.

The third grade students represent several different countries and speak many languages.

Our students attend school in an urban setting. Students also live in the neighborhood. The majority of our students are English Language Learners who speak languages such as Spanish, Serbian, Vietnamese, and Chinese. In science, students will be studying the differences between animal habitats and behaviors. Exposure to the activities provided by the Lincoln Park Zoo will allow students to experience and further their knowledge about animal life.

My Project

Students will participate in the Zoo Explorers program, Predator and Prey. Students will be involved in hands-on activities that will enhance their knowledge in the area of life science. They will learn about where animals live, what they eat, and certain behaviors. The program will prepare the students for fourth grade, where science is an important curriculum focus.

It is so important to expose students to a variety of curricula experiences.

This program will expose students to a new skill set, such as conducting observations and real experiments. Students will be led by an expert and have the opportunity to become a "Zoo Explorer!"
