Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second graders attend an inner-city Title I school. At our school, all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch so they can focus on learning while they are in class. One-third of my students are English Language Learners which means that on top of learning the content for second grade they are also working hard to master English. My students are fun loving and eager to learn, and I am just as excited to teach them this year!
My Project
I want to create a calm and welcoming environment for my students to come learn everyday. Although I already have string lights, rugs, art and curtains...something just didn't feel right. It was the harsh florescent lights! My students complain that their eyes hurt and they get frequent head aches making it hard for them to focus and learn. These light filters will diffuse the harsh white light creating a more peaceful learning environment.
Softer lighting and fresh clean air will create the optimal learning environment.
My classroom can get quite stuffy and when the heat or air is turned on, dust is blown into the room. This dust aggravates my students allergies and asthma. My students miss school because they keep getting sick or their allergies are acting up, and if they aren't at school then they are missing valuable instruction. The Levoit Air Purifier would drastically reduce the dust, germs, and allergens in my classroom. I will use the diffuser to fill the room with essential oils to calm my students and enhance their focus. I know a calm and fresh environment will boost my students potential and keep them in the classroom so they can learn.
