Mrs. Beede from Saint Louis MO is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need markers and poster sized post-it notes to design graphic organizers and anchor charts to promote visual learning.

I teach music at a magnet school with an emphasis on international studies. One thing that makes us unique is that we offer foreign language classes to all our preK - 5th grade students. I have a large ELL (English Language Learner) population, and reading music helps reinforce English reading skills and mechanics. After all, music is its own language!
Like most schools, my students have a wide range of learning styles, and I need help meeting each of their needs.
We have some instruments for kinetic learners and recordings for our audio focused learners. I'd like to focus on my visual learners in this project.
Making graphic organizers and anchor charts really help students process information. Teacher-made and student-made posters provide a print-rich environment and give students another way to show what they know and how to apply it. We need large post-its and markers plus some extra crafting supplies to make some great posters for our music room.
Students will be using the markers and large post-its to create posters for our classroom that will promote visual learning and help graphically organize the things they are learning in their music classes. The finished product will allow them to reference the posters in the room while they are learning and work more independently. Students will see their own explanations of musical concepts come to life and make something visible for all the students to reference in class.
This project would significantly help my students' understanding of musical content and concepts.
They would see the musical vocabulary come to life, compare and contrast the music we study, and illustrate connections to math and reading. In the end, they will have visual reminders of the content we study which will help them be more independent problem-solvers and musicians.
