My Students

My students are amazingly wonderful, eager, and curious 7th graders at an urban, Title I public middle school whose talents are vast and diverse. However, since we are currently doing distance learning, many of my students have been forced to face challenges that they were not ready to tackle. This has led to many students breaking down both emotionally and academically as well. I would like to bring a little sunshine to their lives.

Since we are learning online this year, I want to be able to connect with my students in ways other than on screen.

I also want my students to feel excited about school, even if it's over the smallest things.

My Project

I have heard from many students that they are not inspired at all by online learning. They are becoming disheartened and some have stopped coming to virtual class completely. They need some joy and inspiration in their lives. I would like to use these motivational postcards as a way to put a smile on their faces and boost their morale, and hopefully provide some inspiration while I'm at it. I understand that stamps are pricey, but they are the most vital part of this "You've Got Mail!" project and the rolls were more economical. I would also like to have a variety of options for postcards to send as well as markers to make them look inviting and pretty.

I am hoping that I can connect with my students outside of the screen and help motivate them by celebrating their efforts and their successes, no matter how large or small.

I want to let my students know that I am here for them and that I care. It would be lovely for them to recognize that their teacher appreciates them for all their contributions to the class, whether it is academic, social, emotional, or for simply being a good human being.
