I teach 21 amazing students in my classroom of diverse learners. I have several students from different countries- including Mexico, Hungary, Germany, and Mongolia. My school is a Title 1 school, meaning that 77% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. My school is a neighborhood school, meaning that most of the students bike or walk to school.
In my classroom, I focus on developing the whole student.
Although we focus mostly on academics, we try to associate every thing in our day with being a good friend, listener, and leader. I try to create rigorous and engaging lesson to help my students be successful in the classroom, but also in life. My students are fun, energetic, and curious. They love writing, history, and science. Our classroom is like family.
Our classroom, is a part of a larger school body that focuses to create well-rounded learners by developing the whole-person and preparing students to become life-ready learners (Leaderinme.org).
My Project
In my class, students often struggle with connecting their work in school and their work at home. Students have so much work and they often feel overwhelmed and lose their work within seconds. With this mailbox, my hope is for students to feel more organized and take ownership of their work.
My goal with this classroom mailbox is for students to become responsible for their work in class and review it at home in order to ensure their success in school.
In class, we often talk about grit, which means giving it your all even when it's difficult. My hope is that with this mailbox, students will learn what it means to have grit both in and outside of the classroom.
