This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Through student centered learning, exposure to STEM career pathways, and a focus on innovation, problem-solving, and risk-taking we are developing tomorrow's innovators at our school. The learning in the classroom is designed to expand on students' interests, their ideas, and all the questions they have!

It is our hope that this learning extends beyond the classroom and into their everyday lives.

Our school staff and administration work hard to ensure that all students are given an opportunity to learn and feel successful.

My Project

My students in the 6th grade study the human body and learn how it functions. A few of our activities require the students to be able to test their breathing rate and heart rate.

While I will always make sure to teach them how to take their hear rate on their wrist or neck, it would be helpful for them to collect accurate data with instructional tools that are available.

Having hand-grip heart rate monitors will allow them to take their heart rate at rest and after activity. Not only will the students be collecting data but they will also be able to practice other important science and math skills. They will be able to generate graphs from the data to quickly see that change that activity has on the human body.
