Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an educator with a passion for ethnic studies, I strive to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive classroom for my fabulous fourth graders! I have a diverse group of students with unique learning styles who come together to create an amazing learning community. Our classroom is our home away from home, it's a reflection of who we are and what we value!

It's a joy and gift to spend my days with thirty-five academic scholars and kindness champions!

In our classroom, we work hard. We play too, but I know my fourth graders would probably say, "We don't play enough!" I hear them loud and clear! In the New Year, let's make a monthly Friday Fun Day to celebrate our unique identities and build strong friendships. Friday Fun Day will strengthen our inclusive classroom climate so all my students feel supported academically and socially. My students will love playing Chinese Checkers and putting a jigsaw puzzle together with their classmates. I have some students who love colorful Sharpie markers and enjoy chatting with friends while doodling and coloring. Social emotional learning is just as important as academics!

We can never have enough books! The book, The Fastest Girl on Earth!: Meet Kitty O'Neil, Daredevil Driver! will be a welcomed addition to our classroom library where students will see themselves within the pages or it will open a window to see into the life experiences of someone else.

Cheers to good times in the classroom playing games, putting jigsaw puzzles together and coloring with pals to nurture hearts and friendships as well as celebrate the beauty of diversity in our classroom and beyond! Thank you for supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and social emotional learning in our classroom.
