Help me give my students granola bars, apple sauce, fruit snacks, apple chips, breakfast bars, and apple sauce to be used for the school "Youth Sustaining Good Heath" program.

My students are driven to learn despite the barriers they face daily in their community setting. These students have been termed “at-risk” because they live in low income housing. Their community is infested with drugs, crime, prostitution, and dilapidated housing. Believing that their dreams will come true, our students give their all to learn and prepare for their future. Our motivated learners enjoy learning new things and take pride in working on hands-on projects.
These students’ poverty level has impeded their ability to eat healthy and nutritious foods for growth.
Fighting through hunger our students are showing minor gains in critical areas of studies including mathematics and reading. These students enjoy learning and participate weekly in nutrition and health classes. Their learning is reflective in students' display of quality work throughout the school. The school family love our gifted and hardworking students.
If funded, this grant will provide healthy foods (fruit snacks, apple sauce, granola bars, apple, chips, breakfast bars, and apple juice) for youth to sample during our school-wide “Youth Sustaining Good Health” forum. This fully funded grant will allow our students an opportunity to sample healthy foods. Students will understand that making the correct food choices can aide in stabilizing your energy level and improve memory. Students will learn that maintaining healthy weight includes careful selection of food choices.
Students’ lives will change as they have identification that poor food choices can cause chronic diseases.
Additionally, students will learn good eating habits that will stick with them for life. Students’ ability to sample nutritious food will enable them to know that there are healthy alternatives that will quench their appetites. Lastly, the school setting is the home to students learning about good and bad nutrition. Therefore, this program will validate the importance of eating sound and healthy food in the school setting where children make critical food choices.
