Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school fosters consistent and authentic motivational experiences for our students. Our students come from families who only want the best for them. These families have a great desire to see their children become productive citizens who can, in many cases, become the first to graduate high school and/or receive a college education. All educators on campus share a collective responsibility to sustain a level of student interest in academics and engage them in learning to become well-rounded individuals.
Our students have great aspirations and need our support in learning the steps to reach their goals.
Some students require more intervention in building confidence in their capabilities and in tapping into their potential. In particular, some of our students see school as their escape; as their haven. It is a safe place to be, a place to be fed, a place to be better than what is awaiting on the outside of our fences. We all strive to meet our students where they are and help build them up to reach their potential.
My Project
Read Across America is a national movement that inspires us all to keep literacy at the forefront of everything we do. Every year schools celebrate one of the most talented writers or all time, Dr. Seuss, and I would love to bring in resources to help our school celebrate and promote reading.
No matter your age, you're never too old to pick up a book and inspire someone by showing them the magic that reading brings!
Celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday this year can be ever more special if we could get a copy of a variety of Dr. Seuss books to share the brilliance this author shared with the world. Many consider his books for only the very young, but in actuality the themes and messages in his books transcend the idea of age. I am excited to coordinate various activities related to the titles I am requesting in our library this year and would also love to have incentives to reward our students for participating in a week long worth of literacy-related fun!
