Our students belong to low-income/high poverty school district. Most of my students come from a very ethnically diverse community. We have students from Israel, the ex-Soviet Union - countries that many Americans have never heard of, e.g., Georgia, Uzbekistan, Belorussia, and more. In addition, we serve students from all over Asia, Africa, Central and South America, and Mexico. There are 13 spoken languages and our students come from 16 foreign countries. We are a Title I school and most of our students receive free lunches. However, despite the challenging conditions many of them face, they show good attendance and are eager to learn. Some of my students have severe physical, learning, and emotional disabilities. A couple of them go through chemotherapy, surviving cancer. Despite the conditions our students live in, they show great attendance and are eager to learn.
Many of our students live far away from our school but take a long journey to come because they were made aware that we offer unique project- based instruction with New Generation Science Standards.
We are a Title I school, and most of our students receive free lunches.
Some of my students are overweight and I want to share with them how to count calories and eat healthy snacks. That's why I want to get the healthy snacks I am asking about. In addition, some of them come in worn-out clothing and that hurts me seeing it. Having some of my students to have good clothing would stimulate them to do better and be more positive, although these students are not a problem at all.
However, despite the challenging conditions many of them face, they show 98% attendance and are eager to learn. Some of my students have severe physical, learning and emotional disabilities.
Helping those students to be sure that they don't have to worry about the basics for their living conditions will motivate them to focus on education only. Besides, they will be thankful and will grow as productive citizens of our country.
It is only thanks to generous donors that my students will have a chance to focus on their education only. Thank you in advance.
