My students need hands-on learning materials, including models of the heart and brain for health anatomy lessons so they can better understand their bodies and how they work.
Everyday I have the pleasure of being able to teach an amazing group of energized, loving and charismatic students. I am currently a beginning K-5 PE/Health teacher in a Title I school in eastern North Carolina.
Although I serve a diverse range of students, they all share the common interest, and focus to strive academically through new innovative ways.
My students are from many different social and economic backgrounds. The majority of our students are from military, single-parent, and low income households.
My Project
This project will allow my students to have a hands-on learning experience in our health classes, while learning about their bodies and how they work. As a beginning teacher I aim to implement new, fun, and exciting ways to promote student growth and learning during health classes. For this project I am requesting 7 different organ models. Each model will give students the opportunity to deeply analyze the different organs and parts of their bodies.
Being funded for this project will allow my students the opportunity to work together to create and analyze these models to further their learning experience about the human body.
I want students to have the opportunity to use these models for a more in-depth learning experience, rather than simply looking at a film. The models of the heart, eye, body, skeleton, hand, and heart pump model, will allow my students to work in different stations together and individually to better understand where different organs are and how they work in the body.
