Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I absolutely love to teach 1st grade! In 1st grade is where most students learn how to read. The growth that I get to see every year in my students is always heart warming. My students start to read everything they see and that is exciting!
My students also become awesome writers!
They have the opportunity to write every day! They start with simple journal entries and end up writing reports using different graphic organizers. They write their own book every week as well. This activity lets them choose a topic. They also can tell the difference between books that are stories or informational text.
My Project
These materials will be very helpful to my students because they will be able to write!
They will write stories, reports, personal narratives, and much more!
Using different different kinds of papers with a baseline helps first graders adjust the size of their letters. It also motivates them to use their best handwriting!
The dry erase markers will be used to write short answers and even short spelling quizzes. If all my students have a marker, it will allow them to focus on what the activity is about. Most of my students do not have their own personal dry erase markers and they have to borrow them.
