Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach dual language in a low income district that was just hit by Harvey. The school has been closed due to massive damage. We have been displaced to another school while they rebuild our home school. I am saddened to say that many of my students as well have lost their homes. I would like to provide a wonderful learning and fun filled room for my students to come into. We have started school on September 14th and I have nothing. This is where I need help.
My Project
Technology is a great tool for our little ones. Tablets are a hands on activity that drive learning. Playing is learning! Tablets make a great independent literacy, math, science, and listening stations. Tablets in a listening station are wonderful. The students will use QR codes to choose which book they would like to hear/read. Being a dual language class, my Spanish speakers will learn English while playing and vise versa. Our young students get on tablets and begin solving problems, asking questions and discovering.
Students become independent, confident and take charge of their learning when they are working on a tablet.
By the end of the year, my students will be young techies!
