Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When a family is struggling to cover the basics like food and shelter for their family, often school supplies do not fit in the tight budget. I firmly believe that every child deserves the tools they need for academic achievement, and I want to be sure that my students are ready to succeed on day one!
I am an educator at a low-income school.
My students, like all children, want to learn, and are capable of doing great things. Unfortunately, they come to school unprepared and underexposed. This is due to a gap in the experiences and exposure that these students are afforded. The children want to be better, but they sometimes start out behind, and the possibilities of catching up seem dismal to most. Well, not to me! I attempt to expose them to as much as I can in the time that I am with them. I like to have supplies in our rooms for the students who need them. When students do not have their supplies, this makes it difficult to get started and young students become easily upset.
My Project
Technology plays an important role in education. If my class had these Kindle Fire tablets, I would be able to differentiate students' learning to fit their individual needs. Students will love the chance to learn through games and interactive activities. They will improve their reading abilities as they listen to books and practice skills relating to their needs.
Personal Kindles will provide my students more opportunities to achieve knowledge and increase their reading comprehension.
Young students need the chance to play and explore as they are learning new things. Having access to a Kindle, will allow them to play games to match their needs whether it is addition and subtraction practice in math or letters, sounds or sight words in reading.
