Nothing can brighten your day faster than a child singing joyfully from the heart. That's just what my second grade students want to do, sing their hearts out. But who will hear them? They need an audience, and our community needs their inspiration. The elective chorus makes this bridge possible.
The 2nd grade elective chorus is a new opportunity for students to impact their community through the joy of music.
The students choose to participate in chorus three days a week, so you know it's something they love to do. Anyone can be in the choir if they have a passion for singing. One of the best things about the group is that students will be able to connect with their audience before and after performances, be it at the children's hospital or nursing homes. It's often hard to know how to help someone in a difficult situation. My students find that they can brighten someone's day, give hope, and make a difference through music, and that is empowering! The power of music is motivating and contagious. Students take ownership of what they sing and often create their own choreography. They also like to add special instrument parts to songs. It's a privilege to lead students who want to share the joy of music with others.
My Project
I am so please to say that because of the generosity of donors like you, Part I of this project for all keyboard accessories has been fully funded. Now all we need is the keyboard itself! With this quality keyboard, we can reach our goal of performing in the community. Students will be able to share their gifts of music and sound great while doing so. When students have the opportunity to connect with and serve the community, they will learn the value and importance of giving and serving. I often need to do my own accompanying and conducting. With this keyboard, I can play accompaniment that I've previously recorded so I am free to conduct the music. Having this music system will make it all possible for us. This keyboard is really a multi-functional tool that will be very useful inside and outside of the classroom.
I am so pleased with the response to the first part of this project.
Securing a keyboard to go with all of the necessary accessories for our traveling group will make it possible for students to share their music with those who need to hear it. It will expand students' perspectives, help them connect to the world, and make their world a little bigger. Not only will this keyboard be used to perform, but it will also be used in our music classroom.
