My Students
All my students are green and also are accomplished in many ways. They come from around the corner and around the world. Many work 20+ hrs in part time jobs and some work hard at grinding my nerves -ha! they're teenagers, after all...
The photo is when my US History choir did PSAs, visiting classrooms singing the Preamble of the Constitution, informing, asking trivia, tossing candy, and celebrating democracy!
We also tour about the Great Migration, and Chicano & Civil Rights Movements singing "Sweet Home Chicago" and "What's Going On", respectively...
My Project
Hamilton: The Musical illustrates the ideals of America in a way no one can ignore. The multicultural layers make our history come alive for today's youth
The rigors of the required educational program from Gilder Lehrman takes us through the process of analyzing historic documents of the era and synthesizing them into an original piece of expressive art.
I believe our students will see themselves in the characters of Hamilton. They won't all be the determined Hamilton but they'll be the strength of Eliza and the fortitude of Washington and opportunism of Burr and the wit of Jefferson. I only know they be the fruits of America, ripening before our eyes...
